CHARGING INTELLIGENCE · LIMITED BETA TESTING

The best place to charge is not always the nearest.

Suomen Latauspiste develops decision support for electric vehicle charging. Our goal is to bring together the route, price, availability, reliability, charging power and nearby services to match what the driver needs in that particular situation.

01 · REAL CHARGING DECISIONS

Even the same driver may need a different charging stop in a different situation.

EV drivers are not always looking for the nearest charger. We develop Latauspiste around real driver needs: the purpose of the journey, available time and charging needs all affect what makes a good choice right now.

ON THE ROAD

A sensible detour matters.

When your destination is still ahead, route fit, available chargers, reliability and suitable charging power become especially important.

WHILE RUNNING ERRANDS

Charging should fit what you are doing.

A shop, café, meal or another errand may make a different location the better overall charging choice.

DURING A LONGER STOP

The fastest charger is not always the best.

When the car will be parked for a while anyway, price, services and sufficient power can matter more than maximum power.

02 · WHAT MATTERS?

A good charging stop depends on several factors.

Finnish research indicates that route fit, price, the number and availability of chargers, sufficient power and on-site services all influence charging-location choice. These factors do not carry equal weight for everyone or in every situation.

Route and location

A charging stop should fit both where you are and where you are going.

Price

A price comparison is useful only when the charging cost can be calculated reliably.

Availability and site resilience

One available charger may be a less robust option than a site with several available charging points.

Reliability

Being available right now and being reliable over time are different things.

Suitable charging power

The right power level depends on how much energy you need and how long you plan to stop.

Services

On a longer journey, a good charging stop can also be a good place to take a break.

OVERALL CHARGING-SITE QUALITY

We are also developing indicators of the overall quality of a charging site: how many charging points are available, how reliable they appear and how suitable the location is right now.

03 · OUR OWN CHARGING INTELLIGENCE LAYER

More than a map of charging stations.

Data tells you where chargers are. Intelligence helps you decide where to go.

Locations, technical specifications and current charger status are just the starting point. On their own, they cannot tell a driver which charging location is best.

At Latauspiste, we have been building our own Charging Intelligence layer on top of public charging data. We combine information from different sources, analyse charger status and history, and develop assessments tailored to different charging situations.

Not all data is equally current, reliable or comparable. Assessing data quality and ensuring meaningful comparisons are therefore central to our intelligence layer.

We are not just building a better way to view charging data. We are building a better way to make charging decisions.

DRIVER VALUE

A context-appropriate choice

Not just a list of chargers — a better-informed decision.

04 · THE LATAUSPISTE APPROACH

From context to recommendation.

01

Context

Your position or route, time available and estimated energy requirement.

02

Charging data

Availability, price, power, site structure and historical information where reliable data exists.

03

Relevance

The importance of each factor changes with the situation. We do not assume one universal ranking.

04

Decision

Our goal is to present the most suitable options and make it easy to navigate to the selected location.

05 · PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

What works today — and what comes next?

Research informs our development, but the product comes first. We distinguish between what our limited beta group can already test, what is being developed and what belongs to a later phase.

AVAILABLE IN LIMITED BETA

Current capabilities of our advanced app

  • Location- and route-based charger search
  • Use of current availability when the data source provides it
  • Price-aware comparisons only where a price can be calculated
  • Open a selected charging stop in navigation
IN DEVELOPMENT

Quality, confidence and actual cost

  • Reliability indicators based on charging-point status history
  • Overall charging-site quality and resilience from multiple chargers
  • Cost comparisons matched to actual charging needs
  • Better integration of on-site services into recommendations
NEXT PHASE

Context-aware Charging Intelligence

  • Forecasting charger availability and congestion
  • Situation-specific recommendations
  • Recognising different user needs without one universal ranking
  • Considering friction in payment and charging activation

06 · RESEARCH INFORMING OUR DEVELOPMENT

Real user needs + Finnish research + charging data.

Research is not the Latauspiste product. It helps explain why we solve these problems, and why the same recommendation will not work in every charging situation.

THE APP IS ALREADY IN BETA TESTING

From concept to working application.

The advanced Latauspiste application is currently being used by a limited group of testers. Users can already search for charging locations and compare alternatives based on several selection factors.

During beta testing, we continue to improve data quality, analytics, charging-site assessments and user experience. Our goal is reliable decision support for real-life EV charging.
